Tamba lala Swinhoe
Zethes lala Swinhoe, 1900, Cat. east and Aust. Lepid. Heterocera Colln Oxf. Univ. Mus., 2: 189.
Diagnosis
The species is somewhat similar to mniomera in appearance, but the postmedials are straighter, more definitely double, and the forewing is bisected longitudinally by a much broader dark brown streak. There is more of a pinkish suffusion, particularly on the hindwing.
Taxonomic note
The species was treated as distinct from T. lineifera Walker by Barlow (1982), followed by Poole (1989). The taxa sondaicus Snellen (Java, Sulawesi), albidalis Walker (Seram) and olivacea Pagenstecher (Ambon), currently placed as synonyms of the Indian T. lineifera Walker, together with T. vandenberghi Prout (Sulawesi, Philippines) need investigation.
Geographical range
Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand.
Habitat preference
The species has been taken infrequently in various lowland dipterocarp forest types at elevations up to 300m.
