Quadricalcarifera ferrea Kiriakoff or triguttata Kiriakoff sensu Holloway 1976: 56, 94;spotted form.
Diagnosis
The uniform dark brownish green coloration of the forewing, crossed by faint bluish fasciae, and the broad banding to the hindwing costa distinguish this species from other Bornean taxa. The forewing stigmata are often ringed slightly with bluish grey or are totally cream or white.
Habitat Preference
The species is common, particularly in upper montane forest, on G. Kinabalu, G. Mulu, G. Api, Bukit Retak and Bukit Pagon, on Kinabalu it was recorded from as high as 2600 m. The white-spotted form was found to be very much rarer in all these localities except G. Api, where it predominated.
