Taxonomic Notes
This and the next species belong to a section of the genus with the valve of the male genitalia without a terminal spur and with the uncus very reduced (as two setose lobes), in contrast to the heavy, single, central gnathal process.
This subspecies differs from the typical race slightly in the shape of the valve, the aedeagus is curved apically rather than straight.
Geographical range
Taiwan, S. China, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species has only been taken in upper montane forest in Brunei, at 1670 m on Bukit Pagon and at 1618 m on Bukit Retak. Records in Holloway (1976) refer to the next species.
Biology
Little is known of the biology of the numerous Sundanian Quadricalcarifera species, though Japanese species have been reared from various Fagaceae and from Styrax in the Styracaceae (Sugi & Nakatomi 1969).
