Diagnosis

The male has extensive pale grey areas on the forewing that distinguish it from other Bornean species. The female has a more extensive greenish brown area on the forewing and a marginal greenish brown band. The next species, Q. palladina Schaus, is similar but the male is smaller, darker grey, and the female much brighter with bright green markings more crisply defined.

Geographical Range

Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.

Habitat Preference

The species is frequent in lower and upper montane forest zones, having been recorded from G. Api, G. Mulu, Bukit Retak and G. Kinabalu (♀♀ attributed to transcaerulea by Holloway (1976: Plate fig. 243)). It has also been taken in the lowland forests of Brunei at Labi and Ulu Temburong. It is montane in Peninsular Malaysia, the type locality, though it was described from one specimen only.
