Diagnosis

There is a pale brown medial marking similar to the green rectangle and bar of the previous species, but it is smaller, more irregular, the bar to the dorsum sinuous.

White markings are absent except immediately subapically.

Geographical range

N.E. Himalaya to Sundaland.

Habitat preference

The species is rare in Borneo and has only been recorded from the lowlands.

Biology

The larva was described and illustrated by Dupont & Roepke (1941). It is green with a long, straight pinkish horn until the third instar, the ocelli present only as two black dots.

In later instars the ocelli are fully developed, each consisting of a black centre ringed progressively with white, reddish brown and yellow.

Two white lines edged black run from each ocellus to the head.

From the fourth instar the green colour darkens, and abdominal segments have arrays of small brown spots dorsally.

The horn becomes greyish brown, short, strongly downcurved.

The host-plant recorded was Scindapsus (Araceae).
