Panacra dohertyi Rothschild; Rothschild & Jordan, 1903: 538.

Diagnosis

See Panacra psaltriaJordan. The apical white zig-zag of the forewing bisects the apical angle of the wing.

The thorax and abdomen have stronger linear banding than in the next two species.

The tornal area of the forewings has a strong dark triangle just basal to the pale postmedial.

The longitudinal dark shade to the angle of the margin is broader, more diffuse, more triangular than in malayana.

Geographical range

Sundaland.

Habitat preference

Harman (1981) only recorded dohertyi from the lowlands in Brunei; it was also only taken in the lowlands during the Mulu survey.

On Kinabalu (Holloway, 1976) it was taken as high as 1200m but in an open, cultivated area.

It is the most frequently encountered member of the genus in Borneo.

Biology

Dupont & Roepke (1941) refer to an incomplete description of the larva.

It is green with an incomplete eye spot, black spots and a dark horn.
