Diagnosis

This species differs from typical Oruza as discussed in the generic description, and is very distinct from species of Eugnathia, having a much narrower and more even pale costal band to the forewing, an oblique pale lunulate discal spot and a biarcuate postmedial just distal to this that encloses a broad, pale brown patch with paler arcs within it that extends to the margin over its posterior half. A similar patch occurs in the posterior half of the hindwing margin.

Geographical range

Sri Lanka, Taiwan (Wang, 1995), Peninsular Malaysia (Barlow colln), Singapore, Borneo, Sulawesi.

Habitat preference

The only Bornean specimen seen is from Bidi in the lowlands of Sarawak, but Chey (1994) recorded three from a Eucalyptus deglupta plantation near Brumas in the lowlands of Sabah, and a further specimen was recorded from the understorey of primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah (S.J. Willott, unpublished data).
