Nyctemera montana Holloway
Nyctemera montana Holloway, 1976: 6.
Diagnosis
The basal white zone of the forewing is very small relative to that of muelleri and kinabaluensis. The hindwing border is diagnostic, having an even row of small brownish grey spots in the spaces.
Taxonomic Notes
This species resembles arctata and allies in facies and in the even row of marginal spots on the hindwing. In typical arctata the lamella antevaginalis is strongly produced to cover and extend beyond the ostium bursae. In Javan and Sumatran taxa (scalarium Vollenhoven, zerenoides Butler) the white areas of the forewing are more extensive and irregular.
Geographical Range
Borneo.
Habitat Preference
The species is only known from three females taken at 1900-2110m on G. Kinabalu.
