Diagnosis

The hindwing tail is strongly produced and the wing margins are generally more crenulate than in congeners. The antemedial band in the hindwing is interrupted centrally (entire in lucidaria). Both wings have a submarginal row of pale marks and a darker brown edging to the interior of the brown border.

Taxonomic Notes

No genitalic differences could be found to distinguish Sundanian specimens from those from N. India, hence vitraria is placed as a synonym.

Geographical Range

Oriental tropics to Japan, Sulawesi, S. Moluccas.

Habitat Preference

Most material has been taken in the lower montane zone at around 1000m, but a few specimens have been recorded in the lowlands and from the upper montane zone just below 2000m.
