Diagnosis

Externally this species is similar to divisa but the red areas are lighter, with the fasciae more evident and picked out by an irregular series of black marks. The pale costal band of the forewing is relatively broader and of even width rather than slightly tapering; there is a diagnostic dark discal mark within it. The male genitalia have prominent lobes ventrally on each side of the tegumen. The uncus is long, slender, strongly flexed subbasally and gently sinuous distal to that. The saccus is broadly biangular as in brunei, but the valve is narrower, with only the saccular process developed. The female genitalia have the generic features but the ductus bursae is relatively short and expands to a broad ostium.

Geographical range

Sri Lanka, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.

Habitat preference

The Bornean specimen noted above is voucher for a series of ten recorded in both canopy and understorey samples in primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah (S.J. Willott, unpublished data); given the similarity of species in this complex, the series may have been mixed.
