Diagnosis

This is generally similar in facies to the spurca group but lacks any yellow on the hindwing and has a faintly violet tinge. The forewing fasciae are obscure, that on the hindwing definite over the tornal two thirds.

Taxonomic Notes

The species has an aedeagus vesica similar to that of the spurca group, but the other genitalic features are less developed: the gnathus is less spine-like apically, the valve apex is less produced costally, less strongly setose, and the uncus is less spatulate.

Geographical Range

Borneo.

Habitat Preference

The species is very rare in lowland dipterocarp forest; it has recently been taken singly in such habitats at Labi (50m) and Ulu Temburong (300m) in Brunei.
