Diagnosis
This and Zythos avellanea Prout have similar facies. The striate dark areas are a rusty, rather than blackish, brown in avellanea Prout, and the green medial band meets the forewing dorsum more broadly. The male genitalia are very different, as illustrated.
Geographical Range
Borneo, S. Burma, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Philippines (Mindanao).
Habitat Preference
This is a frequently encountered species in lowland rain forest, and extends also up to about 1200m. In forest near the Danum Valley Field Centre, the species was much commoner in samples made in the understorey than in those made in the canopy (S.J. Willott, pers. comm.).
