Diagnosis

This is a bright yellow species with rufous shading restricted to fine, irregular fasciae and a conspicuous patch just posterior to the white forewing discal spots. The arcuate brown zone with pale lunules at the margin posterior to the apex is shallower than in the next two species.

Geographical Range

Sundaland; Sulawesi (ssp. celebica); N.E. Himalaya, Burma (ssp. brevia).

Habitat Preference

This is a common species of lowland forest, the highest record being one specimen from 1000m on G. Mulu. During the Mulu survey it was particularly common in forest on the lower slopes of the limestone G. Api.

Biology

The species has been reared from Nephelium (Sapindaceae) in Malaysia and Thailand (unpublished IIE records; Kuroko & Lewvanich, 1993). Kuroko & Lewvanich illustrated the larva and pupa. They are typical of the genus, the former in grey and brown forms.
