Diagnosis
The size and blackish patches at the forewing dorsum subtornally on a straw ground colour combine to render this species unmistakable. There are blackish spots on the thorax as in leucanioides. Comments on the placement of this species are made in the generic account.
Geographical range
Borneo, Java, Bali, Lombok.
Habitat preference
This is a lower montane forest species, but it also occurs infrequently in lowland forest and to as high as 1790m.
Biology
Piepers & Snellen (1904) reared the larva in Java. It is short, dark and very hairy. It feeds on the same moss as Nishada flabrifera (see Nishada flabrifera). The time from formation of the cocoon to emergence of the adult was twelve days.
