Diagnosis
The facies is somewhat similar to that of tumida, but the forewing costa is not so strongly arched centrally, and the male hindwing is not bordered but uniformly straw in colour. The female forewing has the blackish shading along the dorsum extending diffusely further forward.
Geographical Range
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo; Sulawesi (ssp. dasypyga); Sumbawa (ssp. violitincta).
Habitat Preference
Most records are from lowland dipterocarp and alluvial forest but two specimens have been taken as high as 1000m in lower montane forest.
