Serrodes garthei Kobes comb. n.
Pseudathyrma garthei Kobes, 1989, Heterocera Sumatrana, 2: 154.
Athyrma bubo Hübner sensu Holloway, 1976: 34, partim.
Diagnosis
The species is similar to bubo but slightly more delicate. Differences from bubo include: a distinctly paler, irregular submarginal fascia in a more uniform submarginal zone; a definite convexity to the distal border of the hieroglyph at its hook; a slightly concave distal border to the antemedial black patch, that is then angled obtusely more anteriorly where it grades to brown.
Taxonomic note
A. olivacea Prout (Seram) shares some of these features and is closely related as discussed under bubo above. The genitalia of garthei and olivacea are very similar, and those of the latter are illustrated in Fig 103.
Geographical range
Nias, Sumatra, Borneo, N.E. India.
Habitat preference
Bornean material is limited to a male from the Telupid area of Sabah (in FRC, Sepilok) and a female from 1930m on G. Kinabalu.
