Saroba pansa Swinhoe

Diagnosis
The wings are dark reddish grey brown, paler and greyer distal to the forewing postmedial. The forewing reniform is pale orange, edged irregularly with white that extends to the costa. The antemedial is also white, narrow, with two distal acute projections.
Taxonomic Note
Features of pansa are mentioned under Sarobides. The valves have three processes, several of which are as large as the valve apex. The aedeagus has a subapical thorn-like spine. The vesica is moderately broad, with small lobes, and a small cornutus subbasally. The female has a large, pyriform corpus bursae with an incomplete ring of small spines subbasally.
Geographical range
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species is represented in Borneo by singletons from Bidi in Sarawak and Samarinda in Kalimantan, both lowland localities, in addition to the holotype, taken in Sarawak by A.R. Wallace. The only specimen recorded in recent surveys is from lowland forest in the Barito Ulu of Kalimantan Tengah.
