Rivula sordida Walker

Diagnosis

This is a smaller species than innotabilis, the wings a medium greyish brown. The forewings have a diffusely darker discal patch and faintly paler fasciae that run obliquely distad from the dorsum, then angle back to the costa in line with the discal mark. The angle of the antemedial is in contact with the basal side of the discal mark, whereas that of the postmedial is much closer to the apex. The costal section of the postmedial is short and straight, not long and sinuous as in innotabilis. In paler specimens the fasciae may have black edging; they can be slightly irregular when this occurs.

Borneo, ?N.E. Himalaya.

Habitat Preference

The original material was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably in the lowlands, confirmed in recent surveys by the recording of three specimens in: disturbed forest at Semongok near Kuching; secondary vegetation at Mumong and near Labi in Brunei, both localities not much above sea-level.
