Negeta abbreviata Walker
Leucania? abbreviata Walker, 1862, J. Linn. Soc. (Zool.), 6: 180.
Negeta becki Kobes, 1997: 72, **syn. n.
**
Diagnosis
The species is very similar to contrariata but has the subapical white triangle on the forewing costa obscured by greyish suffusion.
The triangle has the distal side longer than the basal side, the latter slightly bilobed, whereas in contrariata the basal side is longer and straight.
The postmedial is usually obscure.
The male genitalia have the uncus distinctly bilobed, and the valve is more elongate than in contrariata.
Taxonomic Notes
The male genitalia of the holotype of abbreviata (UM, Oxford) match those of N. becki Kobes from Sumatra.
Geographical range
Borneo, Sumatra.
Habitat preference
The holotype (UM, Oxford) is from Sarawak, probably from the lowlands.
Two further males have been taken in recent surveys, from 1000m in lower montane forest on G. Mulu, and from 150m in lowland dipterocarp forest near the Danum Valley Field Centre.
There is also a male in USNM from 1530m near Kundasang on the south side of G. Kinabalu.
