This is a small species with a characteristic facies of rich brown markings and shading on pale ochreous cream. The forewing has an angle at the centre of the distal margin, and the apex is very slightly falcate; the orbicular is prominently paler. The hindwing is less shaded by brown, and the fine fasciae are more prominent. Males have an elongate, elliptical, dark brown patch of androconial scales in a clear zone at the anterior of the hindwing.
Taxonomic Notes
The relationship of this species to typical Nagadeba is discussed in the generic account.
Geographical range
Borneo, Sumatra (HS / ZSM).
Habitat preference
The original material was taken in Sarawak by A.R. Wallace. Five specimens have been collected in recent surveys, one from secondary and coastal vegetation at Seria and two from lowland forest at 300m in the Ulu Temburong, Brunei, one from 100m on G. Santubong near Kuching in Sarawak, and one from an area of disturbed forest at 550m in the vicinity of Poring near G. Kinabalu. In addition, eight out of ten specimens (three retained) recorded in a survey of forests near the Danum Valley Field Centre (S.J. Willott, unpublished data) were from logged rather than primary forest.
