Taxonomic Notes

In the Philippines flies a similar but distinct species, franclemonti Calora. Record of this from Borneo by Holloway (1976) proves to be erroneous, the taxon concerned being new and described below.

Geographical range

Throughout the Oriental tropics to Sundaland and east to Sulawesi, and S. Moluccas.

Habitat preference

Bornean material is mainly from lowland localities, usually those with open habitats or secondary vegetation. However, two specimens were taken at 1618m in upper montane forest on Bukit Retak in Brunei.
