Diagnosis

This is the largest of the four Bornean species, with the forewing basal to the rather straight, subdorsally indented postmedial a paler grey than the marginal zone. The hindwing postmedial is broadly biarcuate.

Taxonomic Notes

A related species occurs in the mountains of Sulawesi (slide 13205), sharing the feature of a tuft of hairlike setae from the dorsal surface of the tegumen, but having the uncus entire rather than bilobed, and with a long, sinuous rodlike process from the sacculus.

M. pingasoides* Warren comb. n. also belongs to this group.

Geographical Range

Borneo.

Habitat Preference

The species is only known from G. Kinabalu where it is infrequent in the lower to upper montane zone, ranging from 1200m to 1930m.
