Taxonomic Note

M. androconiata Inoue (2004) was discovered flying in the Crocker Range with M. borneensis and at Sipitang near Merapok. The male has the forewing orange fascia considerably reduced, tapering away from the costa to disappear in the middle of the wing. There is an androconial patch in the centre of the basal blue area on the underside of the hindwing. The female has the forewing orange fasciae more as in borneensis but sinuous, with a distinct flexure at the tornus. The male genitalia are distinctive, with a striking arc of spines posterior to the costal zone, meeting the ventral margin at a slight central angle.
