♀ (holotype)

Metaphoenia scobinata Holloway sp. n.

♀♀ and putative ♂♂ 10-11mm. The facies is very much as in plagifera. In the genitalia of putative males, the most costal process on the valve is slender, apically bifid, more separated from its interior companion and more basal than in carneipennis, where it is simple and perhaps more strongly curved. In the female, the eighth segment is evenly and finely scobinate, with a semicircular, scobinate lobe covering the ostium from anteriorly as in carneipennis. There is a pair of small pouches in the pocket anterior to this as in carneipennis. The corpus bursae of both species is elongate, rather sausage-like, though broadening distally rather more in scobinata.
