Maguda suffusa Walker
Gyrtona suffusa Walker, 1863, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 27: 99.
Diagnosis
The forewings are relatively narrow, and the hindwings have the medial and postmedial relatively straight and parallel. The marginal area of the hindwing has an oblique paler element centrally. Identification is best confirmed from the male genitalia where the valve bases are large, adjacent to each other centrally, and there is a sequence of three processes that decrease in size from the exterior to the interior.
Geographical range
Borneo, Japan.
Habitat preference
The holotype female was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak. In recent surveys a male has been recorded from 15m in dry heath forest on sand at Telisai in Brunei. There is also a further female that is possibly this species, taken in the vicinity of Pontianak in the lowlands of Kalimantan.
