Diagnosis
This is a small, variegated species with diffuse dark emerald green markings and striae on a whitish ground.
The markings are more irregular than in other similarly variegated species in Maxates. See Jodis spumifera Walker stat. rev.and Jodis rectisectaHerbulot. All three have the untidy type of bipectinate antennae.
Geographical range
N.E. Himalaya, Hainan, Burma, Andamans, Sundaland.
Habitat preference
Most material seen is from lowland forest, with some preference for heath and swamp forest types.
The highest record was from 1000m on G. Mulu.
Biology
Yunus & Ho (1980) and Kuroko & Lewvanich (1993) recorded the larva from Eugenia (Myrtaceae), and Dimocarpus and Nephehium (Sapindaceae). The latter authors noted it as a flower feeder.
