Diagnosis

The species resembles inferna but is slightly larger, and the male hindwing venation is typical of most of the genus, with vein M3 diverging from CuA before the dichotomy of the latter. The male has a similarly oblique reniform, and the loop on the dorsum is also similar. The hindwing below is brown, not broadly pale blue, though the female has a fine pale blue postmedial fascia (weak in the male). Both sexes have a better defined, less diffuse, oblique boundary between the medial pattern and the uniform marginal area.

Geographical range

Sumatra, Borneo, Java (small specimens).

Habitat preference

Only two Bornean specimens have been seen, both male: one from an area of cultivation and disturbed forest at Kundasan (1050m) on the southern slopes of G. Kinabalu; another from Bidi in the lowlands of Sarawak.
