Diagnosis

The geometrically marked grey forewings are diagnostic for this and the next species. The slight differences in shape of the rectangular mark on the forewing dorsum just basal to the postmedial noted by Swinhoe to distinguish annaand rectaare probably just intraspecific variability. The male hindwings are mostly pale blue below. I. hagenii Snellen is very similar but has the second segment of the labial palps dark brown below rather than pale blue, an ovate mark on the forewing dorsum and a much broader blue band on the hindwing upperside.

Geographical range

Borneo, Singapore.

Habitat preference

The species is apparently rare, and is known only from the holotype male of anna, and several other specimens from G. Kinabalu without altitude data and a male from the coastal locality of Sandakan. The species has not been taken in recent surveys.
