Diagnosis
In both this and the next species the hindwings are distinctively produced centrally at the margin. The forewing tornus is strongly excavate. All the hindwing and most of the forewing are coloured deep rich brown on a greyish ground, with diffuse and finely linear darker fasciae; the forewing costa is broadly greenish. Taxonomic notes
Sundanian inconspicua is distinguished from the Himalayan F. subsignata Warren in having the strongly angled forewing submarginal more irregular and also the antemedial. The straight brown medial on the yellow hindwing underside is broader, more intense in the Himalayan species and the underside ground colour is more orange in the Sundanian one. In subsignata the basal half of the hindwing upperside is diagnostically paler than the rest of the wing. The male genitalia differ in the length of the furca arm: the left is longer, and more slender in inconspicua, but the right is only half the length of that of subsignata.
Geographical range
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
Bornean material is all from lowland localities except for a male from 1465mon Bukit Retak, Brunei. It is probably a forest species.
