Diagnosis
The facies resembles that of some agaristine Noctuidae, particularly Mimeusemia vittata Butler (Holloway, 1989: 204), but has narrower, more apically produced forewings with a narrower white band on the black ground. The black border to the orange hindwings is more uniform in width.
Taxonomic note
Kishida (1996) described, E. mindanaoensis Kishida from Mindanao in the Philippines, but this was placed as a subspecies of obliquaria by Yen et al. (2005).

Burma, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Nias, Sulawesi.
Habitat preference
The species has not been taken in recent surveys but older material is predominantly from lowland localities.
