Ectropidia quasilepidaria Holloway sp. n.

♂♀ 11-13mm. Externally this species is indistinguishable from E. illepidaria. There are constant differences in the male and female genitalia, however. In the male abdomen, there is a robust pair of coremata between segments 6 and 7, but quasilepidaria is distinguished by possession of small, slightly corematous lobes just anteriorly on segment 7. Both species have a curved spine on the saccular process and a straight one centrally on the ventral margin of the valve: the former is larger than the latter in illepidaria, but the reverse holds in quasilepidaria. The aedaegus vesica is more strongly scobinate, correlating with a shorter, broader neck and bulb to the bursa copulatrix, the neck being basally more scobinate.

Geographical range

Borneo, Sumatra.

Habitat preference

The species is frequent in lowland and lower montane forests, with a few specimens taken at about 1800m in the upper montane zone.
