Diagnosis

See Dysphania transducta Walker .

Geographical Range

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo; Palawan (ssp. tsukadai). Yazaki (1989) also includes the Nias I. taxon ares Weymer, with electra Weymer as synonym, as a subspecies of glaucescens on the grounds of genitalic similarity.

Habitat Preference

The only specimen taken recently came to light at night in alluvial forest in the G. Mulu area. A specimen labelled as from Mt Marapok is illustrated.

Taxonomic Note

Leong (2010a) has illustrated the early stages of D. glaucescens in Singapore. The larva and pupa are typical of the genus as described in the previous note, but the larva is more generally and evenly spotted with blue, rather than black, and there is a narrow yellow lateral line that fades away over the thoracic segments. The host plant was Pellacalyx (Rhizophoraceae).
