Diagnosis

The species could be confused with members of the bosca / increnulata complex (see below) but the male antennae are ciliate rather than bipectinate. The fasciae of the forewing are parallel to each other but are finely irregular; in the other species one or more is straight or regular. In the male genitalia the ventral margin of the valve is sinuous, pilose, and the corema is weak (triangular, sclerotised in the bosca complex).
