Diehlea tumida Hampson
Carea tumida Hampson, 1905, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 16: 594.
Diehlea tumida Hampson; Kobes, 1997: 93.
Diagnosis
The zone distal to the forewing postmedial is much broader at the costa than towards the dorsum. In this it resembles Carea varipes, but is darker, redder, and has a more evenly curved distal margin.
Geographical range
Andamans, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Palawan (ZMUC), Sulawesi.
Habitat preference
All records during the Mulu survey were from the lower montane zone, at 1000m on G. Mulu and at 900m and 1200m on G. Api. Brunei records are all from the lowlands: from dipterocarp forest at Labi, heath forest at Telisai and swamp forest at Daerah Belait. Chey (1994) took the species in some frequency from plantation and secondary forest in the lowlands of Sabah.
Biology
An unpublished host-plant record at FRIM (Robinson et al., 2001) is for Decaspermum (Myrtaceae).
