Diagnosis
This is a medium sized species that has a punctate forewing postmedial that is distinctly stepped.
The hindwing discal spot is a black dot rather than a brown patch, distinguishing zincaria from all other moderate to large Bornean species except D. mancaSwinhoe.
Taxonomic notes
D. zincaria belongs to a complex of species that includes D. permensata Walker (= guttilinea Walker; Queensland, Lesser Sundas to Bali, Saleyer) and D.candidissima Prout (New Guinea).
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Philippines, Sulawesi; S. Moluccas, New Guinea (ssp. melagonata).
Habitat preference
The species is recorded from the lowlands in areas where human disturbance is extensive, e.g. at Tuaran where only a small forest remnant occurs in a large area of diverse cultivation. (Holloway, 1976).
