Diagnosis

This species, its congener and two of the Argyrocosma Turner species described next have oblique forewing postmedial and antemedial rows of spots, white, narrowly ringed with red.

In C. dialitha West there are no (or very weak) spots of a similar nature along the wing margins: the cilia are dull red.

In the other three species there is a marginal beading of such white spots, those of both torni and in the centre of the hindwing distinctly larger.

In albicatena these are more prominent; the moth is larger and also somewhat paler.

The male genitalia are diagnostic.

Geographical range

N.E. Himalaya, Borneo, Sumatra.

Habitat preference

Five specimens have been taken in recent surveys: three from 1000m (lower montane forest) and one from 1790m (upper montane forest) on G. Mulu; one from 1618m on Bukit Retak, Brunei.

Genitalia:
