Choerotricha indistincta Rothschild comb. n.
Euproctis indistincta Rothschild, 1920, J. fed. Malay St. Mus., 8 (3): 131.
Diagnosis
The males have both forewings and hindwings a medium grey that darkens towards the dorsum, particularly on the hindwing. The forewing has faintly darker, poorly defined antemedial and postmedial fasciae.
Taxonomic note
The Bornean males have more uniformly grey wings than in typical indistinctafrom Sumatra, and the fasciae are more diffuse, straighter. In typical indistinctathe hindwings are much paler, with long, dark grey scales only along the dorsum. Both sexes are illustrated by Schintlmeister (1994) as Euproctis servilis calvella Strand in his plate 6, though his genitalia figure is correctly identified: the illustrations in the plate for the two species have been cross-labelled. The genitalia of Bornean males have the saccus parallel sided rather than tapering. The Bornean males may represent a distinct, but related species. Schintlmeister (1994) illustrated the female of typical indistincta(plate 6:40).
