Chlumetia dulita Holloway sp. n.
Diagnosis
♀ 8mm.
This species is generally similar in facies to transversa but the forewing is more contrasty; the postmedial is obtusely angled centrally and edged bone-white distally; this white edging recurs on the underside as a pale bar on the costa; the submarginal shade is broken as in transversa but the most anterior block tapers away to nothing subcostally, demarcating a pale grey apical area.
In these facies characters the species resembles C. hampsoni Bethune-Baker (New Guinea, Bismarcks, Solomons), a slightly larger species.
The male genitalia of hampsoni have simple, oblong valves, a small, rather bulbous uncus and a long, tapering, subapically very slender, apically bulbous saccus; the aedeagus vesica has two short, thick cornuti; the modification of the eighth sternite is more elongate than in congeners and there are coremata laterally in the bases of sternites 3 and 4. The females of both species lack signa and have more general scobination in the bursa, but this is over the distal half in dulita and in a basal spiral in hampsoni; in both species the ductus seminalis tapers away from the base of the bursa but it is more whorled in dulita; the bursa is globular in hampsoni, parallel-sided in dulita.
