Image of Catadoides russula Holloway ♂

Catadoides russula Holloway sp. n.

♂♂ 14-15mm. The general appearance is as in longipalpis except the wings from the postmedials outwards are much more heavily shaded with dark brown. In the male genitalia, the valve has a prominent, acute projection from the sacculus that is not seen in longipalpis or those species further east, though the Fijian ones have a slight angle or convexity in that position. The aedeagus vesica has two large branches, the distal one with an apical cornutus and the lateral one with three small subsidiary lobes distally, one of which is invested with reversed stout spines.
