Diagnosis
The forewing is diffusely fasciated with brown on a pinkish grey ground.
The submarginal row of dark dots is triarcuate, distinguishing the species from Gelastocera castanea Butler (p. 177) where this row is more irregular and males have bipectinate antennae.
Geographical range
Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference
The type material was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably from the lowlands.
Two specimens have been taken at below 60m in Brunei in recent surveys: from disturbed dipterocarp forest at Labi; from dry heath forest at Telisai.
A further specimen was taken in dipterocarp forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre.
