Aroana smarti Holloway sp. n.

Image of [object Object] Holloway ♀ (holotype)
♀ (holotype)

♀ 17mm. The only specimen is somewhat damaged, but is much larger than the two other Bornean species. The facies is typical of the genus, but the pinkish grey ground is distinctly darker and somewhat browner distal to the very irregular submarginal fascia. There is variegated blackish shading and fasciation in the medial area between the postmedial and antemedial of all wings, but this is more intense on the hindwing. The forewing has an orbicular dot. The female genitalia have a large, pyriform corpus bursae, with a basal tongue of sclerotisation to almost its centre. The oblique ring of spines is at the distal end of this sclerotisation, but only has about half the number of spines seen in the other two species. However, just beyond its most distal point there is a small patch of smaller spines.
