Arasada albicosta Hampson
Diagnosis
See A. pyraliformis.
Taxonomic note
The holotype of albicosta (Rangoon, Burma) is a female with its abdomen missing, but matches externally two females from N.E. Himalaya (slides 20697, 20928) that are used here to establish the identity of the species.
Geographical range
Burma, N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Java (slide 20929).
Habitat preference
The only Bornean specimen examined (slide 20477) is from lowland forest at 30-60m in the Labi area of Brunei. A photograph of a second Bornean specimen in SMNH, Frankfurt, was sent to the author by W.A. Nässig.
Biology
The larva and general biology are as in A. pyraliformis. Pupation is in a cylinder formed from an elongate ovate section of leaf lamina, sealed at each end as illustrated in Plate 10 (H. Steiner, in litt.). See also Cerynea on p. 91 and Metaemene Hampson on p. 145.
