Pseudonyctemera Snellen
Genus Details
Type species: marginale Snellen, Java.
Males of this genus are white with extensive grey marking on the forewing as illustrated, and sometimes on the hindwing. Females are much more heavily invested with dull grey, with an extensive yellow area at the base of the hindwing, resembling the general facies of some pierid species in the genus Cepora.
The male abdomen and genitalia are generally, in the taxa discussed below, similar to those of the other genera in the most distal clades of Yen et al. (2005).
The genus is most diverse in Sundaland, with decipiens Snellen in Java and marginale Snellen in Sumatra, Nias and Java, and an outlying subspecies of marginale, jahni Hering, in New Guinea.
