Opisoplatia Jordan
Genus Details
Type species: grandis Jordan.
The analyses of Yen et al. (2005) placed this monobasic Bornean genus in Clade 13 with “Eterusid” repleta Walker (Thailand, Indochina), indicated to be misplaced in Eterusia Hope. The striking facies of Opisoplatia, including moderate sexual dimorphism, is described below for the only species. Yen et al. indicated that the two species in Clade 13 share a lack of specialised features in the male abdomen, and have highly sclerotised, well developed and articulated valves, as illustrated for Opisoplatia. However, the preparation of the genitalia of the only male of Opisoplatia in BMNH is lacking the eighth abdominal segment. No other preparation has been seen.
