Mesasteria Hampson

Genus Details

Type species: sanguilinea Hampson.

This genus is monobasic, represented only by the holotype female of its type species. The facies is described below. The size and hindwing shape, angled at CuA2, is similar to Condate, but the fasciation is not consistent with Condate. The labial palps have a very short third segment.

In the genitalia, the ostium is cleft and situated well within the eighth segment as in other members of the Saroba group. The seventh sternite is slightly reduced, shorter posteriorly than the tergite. The ductus is moderate, narrow, evenly sclerotised. The corpus bursae is long, narrow, slightly spiralled basally, and very lightly and finely scobinate.
