Xenotrachea leucopera Hampson comb. n.
Trachea leucopera Hampson,1906, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus., 7: 138.
Diagnosis
In size this species resembles albidisca, but lacks the broad white zone at the reniform and has a distinct row of elongate black triangles submarginally (one triangle subapically is suffused white; it is in a similar position to a paler mark in this zone in albidisca).
Taxonomic note
Apart from a broader aedeagus vesica, the male genitalia of leucopera are indistinguishable from those of albidisca. The facies is to some extent reminiscent of that of Australasian taxa in the genus Pachythrix Turner, but in this the valve is longer without a weak ventral margin, with a narrower corona and a more slender incurved harpe. The aedeagus vesica lacks cornuti. The peniculus is distinctly angled. A sister-relationship between Xenotrachea and Pachythrix cannot be ruled out.
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference
The species is rare, most often encountered in lowland rain forest, e.g. at Labi and Ulu Temburong in Brunei. One specimen was taken in lower montane forest (1000m) on G. Mulu.
