Diagnosis

See the generic description and Varicosia venata Hampson, which is smaller but otherwise very similar. There is some sexual dimorphism, with males having the central wedge of the forewing much darker, particularly immediately posterior to the lens-shaped zone of longitudinal streaking on the veins adjacent to the costa.
