Diagnosis
The two Bornean representatives have a similar general appearance, but remelana has a pure white ground colour, marked only with black, never tinged brown or yellow. The margins on either side of the forewing apex are finely black, and the wing often has a black band on the dorsal surface that is only weakly expressed on the underside; the reverse is true in maculata Moore. The forewing band can be entire, absent or, more rarely, present as just a few spots. The hindwing submarginal black spot seen in typical Himalayan material is usually absent or only weakly expressed.
