Taxonomic Notes

Prout (1932c) included this species in Tympanota, the latter being placed as a subgenus of Sauris.

Geographical Range

S. Moluccas, Sulawesi (Univ. Mus. Amsterdam), Borneo.

Habitat Preference

The species is generally distributed in upper montane forest in Borneo between 1500m and 2000m but has been recorded from as high as 2600m on G. Kinabalu, and from as low as 1200m on G. Api in Sarawak.
