Turnaca spinifera Holloway sp. n.
♂♂ 12 mm. The facies is as illustrated. The small size, pale fawn ground to the forewing with subcostal, central and dorsal dull red stripes and weak post and antemedials, that converge and become more intense towards the dorsum, distinguish this species from others in Turnaca and Ambadra. The male genitalia are atypical of any of the pale, striate-forewinged species in Borneo or elsewhere in South East Asia, having gnathal processes shaped like an axe-head and a prominent spine arising from the base of the valve sacculus. The male eighth sternite has lateral, acutely triangular processes posteriorly, the cleft between them overlain by a semicircular flap.
